Problems with BAckup Exec 9.1 with MSL6060 With e1200 storage work fibre router
Here is an overall setup of our configuration:
Server: G4 DL380 win2k3/sp2
Backup Software: Backupexec 9.1 rel 4961 /
Storage: MSL6060 (latest updated firware (0520)and (latest updated firware F6AW) for the LTO2 tape drives. We library is connected with Optical Fibre Storage Router E1200 (Also updated to the last firmware)
----------------------------------------------
Our backup solution has been working without any problems for about 6 months straight. Now, the last two months has been worst than hell... Out of a sudden, all the drives would start poping up "I/o device error" as well as "Cyclic redundancy check" on a steady basis, on a random pattern. What would often happen then, was that the library would go offline and all of our backup jobs would go on hold. Since then we have replaced parts and tryed several method to fix the problem, but we remain clueless as to what is really going on. We havent had a good backup for weeks, and the library will still go berserk, even when we try duplicate jobs which are local and basic jobs (copy a tape to another tape)
Here is what has been replaced on the MSL6060 library until now:
The four Tape Drives
The SCSi terminator and cables
The Optical Fibre router card
We bought new tapes
We tryed another MSl6060 library and we got no results.
Here is the error message we get when trying an Drive attestment test with HLTT:
"There are indications that the drive is experiencing a high polling rate on the scsi Interface. "Here is an overall setup of our configuration:
