Hello,
I want to connect my Ultrium 960e tape drive to the N4000 server.
(The SCSI card used in N4000 is A4800A[Single port PCI fast/wide differential (FWD) SCSI-2 adapter])
Is this connection supported?
Which kind of scsi card can be used to connect Ultrium 960e?(only scsi ultra 320)
Thanks and Best regards
Louis

Solution
No, this wont work. The 960 drive is low voltage SCSI while the A4800A is high voltage.
You need to use a low voltage SCSI HBA. See the section out of the 960 Quickspec below for supported cards.
You also need to check if they fit the N4000!!
Cheers
Peter

64-Bit/133-MHz Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter

64-Bit/66-MHz Dual Channel Ultra3 SCSI Adapter
NOTE: For maximum tape drive performance, HP recommends the Ultra320 SCSI adapter for use with the Ultrium 960 tape drive.
A6829A
64-Bit/66-MHz Single Channel Ultra3 SCSI Adapter
NOTE: For maximum tape drive performance, HP recommends the Ultra320 SCSI adapter for use with the Ultrium 960 tape drive.

Please refer to the HP Tape Backup Products Compatibility website at http://www.hp.com/go/connect for more information on support for HP PA-RISC and IPF servers.
