Re-Use of Tapes

Could anyone tell me approximately how many times I can rewrite an HP LTO tape before I risk fragmentation or corruption of data?

There isn't a definitive answer. It really depends on how much data is being written to the tape. If you write to the full capacity of the tape once per week your probably looking at around 6 or 7 years of tape life if its Ultrium 3 and at best 4 or 5 years if its Ultrium 4, 2 or 1. If the tape is fully verified you could halve that.

The tape will be filled 25% once per week, so I have a couple of years before I need to replace the tapes?
