Shutdown command for Ultrium 960
I am currently using an Ultrium 960 Autoloader on Windows 2003 x64 and Symantec Backup Exec 12 software. I am interested in finding out if there is a way to shutdown the autoloader by a command from the server in which it is attached in the event of an extended power outage. The unit is attached to a UPS and I would like to be able to shut it down after x number of minutes to protect it and to avoid running the UPS batteries down completely. I have had issues in the past with this unit in which the power is removed from the unit without using the switch and in two cases it trashed the tape unit and I had to get a replacement.

Re: Shutdown command for Ultrium 960
There is no software power down command for the Ultrium 960 Autoloader. The only know conditions where a power failure causes any problem with that autoloader is a failure during an media movement operation. If the server is shut down then there shouldn't be any movement going on and a power failure won't be a problem.
