Soft write Errors in HP 1/8 G2 autoloader
Hp 1/8 g2 autoloader is showing in all the media as soft write errors.
hard write error - no
hard read error - no
soft write error -5180
soft read error -267
I changed all the media. and cleaned the drive also. I am using symantec backup exec 12.5
What is the minimum soft write error.

Re: Soft write Errors in HP 1/8 G2 autoloader
Symantec use to report the soft errors, but in fact these do not impact the backup untill they became Hard errors
these are all the corrected errors the Tape drives does by default during the write or read action.
You can use these value to understand how the drive is working, and if it increase a log, a cleaning cycle may be need.
In alternative you can run LTT, this diag tool will check the drives and report to you any problem the drive may identify itself
