Stop Error Ultrium 448

Hello All, I installed a new tape drive in an older Compaq Proliant server running Windows 2000SP4. The initial boot went ok except the drivers needed to be installed. I installed the drivers and rebooted. During reboot a Stop Error occurred because of the file HPLTO.sys. I rebooted into safe mode and uninstalled the device. When I rebooted again the system requested a CD but I canceled the operation so I would not get another reboot stop error. It appears to me that this is the same driver offered on the HP web site. Any troubleshooting tips anyone can share?
