StorageWorks Block Size Error

I am trying to get data off of some tapes and keep getting the error message: Block size is larger that the maximum allowed transfer size.

I need this data, and need to know how to get past this error.

The tapes are DAT72 and DDS-4 being read on an HP StorageWorks DAT 72 USB external tape drive.

USBStor, the driver for USB DDS is limiting the block size to 64K
if your tapes have been written with a non standard block size (128K for example) on a scsi DDS drive, this maybe your issue.
try to restore the data from a SCSI DDS drive
