StorageWorks MSL2024 tape liabrary

Dear All,

We are facing some issues before / after backup on MSL2024 tape liabrary.

1) Whenever we trying to eject the magazine to load our tape it say's "prevented by host system" and in status it shows that "Media Removal Prevented".
- when we unplug the FC cable and restart the liabrary it works..! but always we have to do this..... :-(

Also when we check the MT status after loading it say's:

Status:[41114600] BOT online compression immediate-report-mode

Mirza

Re: StorageWorks MSL2024 tape liabrary

Use the steps in the following Doc:-

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=1842552&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=1842552&objectID=c01471009

If you are using Symantec Backup Exec then follow the steps below article to resolve the issue:-

Re: StorageWorks MSL2024 tape liabrary

As the doc in the previously posted link suggests, check your SAN for Windows servers with access to the library and disable RSM. If you aren't using any backup software RSM is about the only things that jumps out and locks every device it can see so there is probably a Windows system on the SAN.
