StorageWorks SDLT 600 does not work with Win2K3 x64

We at Viet Nam have a system below:
- IBM x3650 server hardware
- IBM ServeRAID-6M SCSI Controller 128MB
- External HP SDLT 600 Tape Drive

When we setup the server running Win2K3 x32, the tape SDLT600 is working well. We use NTBackup and it can backup data normally to the tape

However, when we setup the server running Win2K3 x64, the Win2K3 can recognize the tape, but it can not backup data. If we run NTBackup, at first there was a status "Mounting the driver" then "Rewinding the tape..." then it has error that hardware failure due to some "....file space backward..."

We are sure that the tape hardware is fine because it can run with Win2K3 32 bits. We know that the issue maybe from the driver 64 bits for the SDLT 600. We have downloaded all drivers 64 bits for SDLT600 from HP, quantum website but the issue and error message were still the same.

Could you please advise where we can download the correct driver 64 bit for our HP SDLT 600 to work with Win2K3 x64, or if you have any workaround solution, please share with us.

Many thanks,
Lam

Hi,

According to this link:
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/ThirdParty/index.html#IBM

The tape drive is not shown as a supported device with your server.
But, I would recommend you to test it with a HBA SCSI controller, not with a smart array controller.

I can suggest you to use a brand new cartridge and "Prepare" it before to use it with NTBackup

other suggestion is to use LTT (HP diag tool) and run some tests, it will tell you if you have problems
