SUSE looses connection with either tape or library
Hi,
We have a opensuse 10.3 storage node connected by scsi to a MSL4048 tapelibrary and drive. Backups run fine, but occasionally, suse looses communication with the drive and only a reboot seems to be able to restore it. Since this node is required in our cluster, rebooting is not an option in a lot of cases..
The devices are seen with lsscsi or cat /proc/scsi/scsi but when trying to do something you get "no such device or adress";
It seems that the drive and lib are still working, because I can manipulate tapes etc from within the webinterface.
My questions to support: what is a probable cause of this breakup of communication? How can I prevent this from happening?
Is there a way to restore it without rebooting the server?

Re: SUSE looses connection with either tape or library
Hi,
My guess is that the OS is the very problem
Open Suse is not supported OS for the MSl->

If you have any updates, please update in forum.
I have a similar issue :(
Regards
Olibe
