Tape duplication speed
We are using Oracle Secure Backup 10.3 with HP MSL 8096 (3x LTO 4 tape drive) on 4 Gbit FC.
When duplicating an almost full tape volume with Oracle Secure Backup it took lengthy 9 hours to perform this operation (first drive loaded with source tape and second drive with target tape).
I presume that MSL library exposes some kind of interface to speed up tape to tape copy operations and Oracle Secure Backup is unable to use it. Does anybody have experience with similar duplication operations and perhaps some timings of have long does it take to duplicate a full LTO4 tape? I am looking for some kind of reference point on how fast it should be.
