Has anyone had any experience with attaching the SAS 1760 ext to any external PCI-X HBA's - maybe the Adaptec 48300.
I would really like the get the single tape storage of the 1760.
Thoughts.

Solution
The HP supported option is the 347786-B21 PCI-X HBA which is an internal only HBA, then you have to use a special internal to external cable: AE468A
If you check the http://www.hp.com/go/connect web site that particular server isn't listed anymore but you can look at a similar server and get the details. I checked the ML310G3 and it took me to a page with that information.
If you want to use a partially unsupported configuration I would recommend the LSI SAS HBAs. The library is supported on LSI SAS HBAs but the Proliant team doesn't support those HBAs in that server.

Re: Ultrium 1760 ext SAS to ML350G3 ? Ideas?
Same problem here, I'd like to plug an Ultrium 1760 to an "old" ProLiant DL385.
Like Curtis said, LSI looks like the way to go.
HP listed their SAS3442X-R as a recommended 3rd party solution indeed.
