Ultrium 215 Tapes Reads only Half the tape's size

Hey all!

I just recently purchased a set of HP LTO1 200GB tapes C7971A. but every time i place it on the tape it only reads 97GB. noted this is not a 100/200 tape is just straight 200gb. Im using Backup Exec 11d. Any thoughts as to why this may be happening?

well LTO1 cartridge are natively max100GB capacity, and are quoted 100-200GB.
this indicate a phisical capacity or native capacity of 100 GB but assuming a compression ratio 1:2, you can fill up to 200 GB,
This compression ratio depend of the capability of your data,
If you have a backup application that disable the HW compression, also you will never put more than 100 GB on a LTO-1 cartridge
