Unable to make backup, C8011A and HP DAT 160 tape

Hello,

I can't get a backup from my server, it has a C8011A drive with HP DAT 160 tapes.

I'm using BackupExec 12.5 for windows.

I think the device may be inproperly installed, what should the settings for the drive be ?

Thanks in advance,

There really aren't many settings for tape drives, particularly with new SAS- and USB-attach drives. If you have a parallel SCSI-attach drive, you will need to make sure that you have assigned the drive a unique SCSI ID, though.

To test connectivity, may I suggest you download HP's free Library and Tape Tools (see the link under Value Add Software at http://www.hp.com/go/tape ) and test to see if L&TT can find the device; if not, there's some sort of cabling issue (or it has not been discovered by WIndows Device Manager). If it is seen by L&TT, you can proceed to use L&TT to run tests on the tape drive and the media itself. If necessary, generate a support ticket and use it to open a case with HP, or post it here.
