USB 160 DAT

Just acquired the above from a friend. Unfortunately no software all 2 years still left on warranty. Only need hp_usbstor.sys, but am finding it's like hens teeth. Can anybody help please? Thanks.

Hi Brian,

You can download the DAT tape driver installed and install it. It should have the sys file you are looking for in the installer pack

Hope this helps

Re: USB 160 DAT

Specifically, for Windows, the driver is at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3439000&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3438737&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=181

In general, if you start from http://www.hp.com/go/support , you can type in the product name and search for drivers from that page.

Re: USB 160 DAT

Thanks guys. Have done both, but am still not seeing the hp_usbstor driver?? Have loaded up the installer which uploaded a selection of files, but none appear to contain the one that HP recommend over the Windows default driver. Maybe I'm missing something? Have done a complete file search without any trace of hp_usbstor. The Windows usbstor shows up fine. Am I doing something wrong?? Your help much appreciated.

Re: USB 160 DAT

Quick way to check is pull a ticket with LTT and check the system configuration section at the top.

You should see somthing like...

|__ System Configuration
||__ Version # V29.07.2007
||__ Removable Storage Manager (RSM) Service - Stopped
||__ Insight Management Agents - Not installed
||__ Driver Revisions
| ||__ DAT Driver Version - 1.6.0.0
| ||__ LTO Driver Version - 1.0.5.2
| ||__ Scsiport driver version - 5.1.2600.2180
| ||__ Storport driver not installed
| ||__ atapi: version - 5.1.2600.2180
| ||__ sym_hi: version - 5.1.2462.0
| ||__ Symmpi: version - 1.21.7.0

Latest DAT driver is 1.6.0.0.

If you look in WINDOWS/system32/DRIVERS you should see hpdat.sys. In device manager this will also show up as version 1.6.0.0.

One more test; use LTT to run a device performance test. That uses the DAT driver (the rest of LTT uses a lower level driver). If the performance test runs, your driver must be installed OK.

Good luck.
