USB DAT72 hardware compression within Windows

Hi,
I have a client backing up via NTBackup to an internal USB DAT72. Within the Device manager (Drive parameters) compression was shown as disabled. I ran the configuration test using LTT and enabled compression, however after a few days, and quite possibly a reboot, it resets itself so that compression was again disabled. This has happened twice now - how can I permanently enable compression?

Regarding NTBackup

See Microsoft kb 827475. "Hardware compression mode is turned off when you back up data to a tape drive on a Windows 2000-based computer by using NTBackup.exe"

Also applies to Windows Server 2003 pre SP2

I have use HP Data Protector Express 3.5 SP2 and an external Dat72 USB tape drive
for the past 3 years to back up SBS 2003.
I have never had more than a touch over 40Gb
on a tape. I would love to hear from someone who knows how to get more on a tape with DPE.

And also show you like how much is the compression ratio that you can get on certain type of file.

Also you should consider the proportion of the amount of files in GB that can't get any compression in the list of selected files.
