Where are the hotspots inside?

I have a 19" Device, LTO4 Ultrium 1760 LW, SAS.
There is a terrible noisy fan inside which needs a regulating pcb which I alreday have.
The questionis where I should put the thermal sensor to ensure proper cooling of the streamer?
Are there any parts inside the streamer which will become hot during operation or is - as usual - the power supply the hotspot itself?

Kind regard

Re: Where are the hotspots inside?

The tape path can get hot if there isn't sufficient airflow. Mainly caused by the tape motors and electronics when it's going at full speed.

Best bet is to download LTT (http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools) and pull a support ticket. In the environment section you will see the internal temperatures listed along with a margin percentage. As long as the margin is <100% then you're OK.

There's also an LTT temperature test which runs the drive at full speed for 30 mins and measures the temperature. That's more accurate.

Sorry... I meant >0% margin.
