Can i change the Raid level of Volumes from Nraid1 to Nraid5?

At present, we have 5 same nodes made into one cluster. we created 4 volums which using Nraid1. Cluster storage space has used up.

Because the reason of storage space, we want to change the 4 volumes Nriad level from Nraid 1 to Nraid 5 directly. Can we do it directly like as Smart array Raid migration?

I am guessing you really mean NR-10?

I am thinking that your best option would be to migrate data off if you could.

If you cannot then I wuold make the volumes all thin provisioned. This should free up lots of space.

If that is not possible then for performance reasons I would only convert the volumes that are low use (read only) to NR-5.

Dont forget you must make the NR-5 volumes thin provisoned.

I also remember there being some kind of bug where  if you attempted to convert the volume to NR-5 and did not have sufficent space it woudl shut down everything.

So number 1 make all volumes thin provisioned.

Wait to see how much space it frees up.

Then make sure you only convert volues that dont have high I/O to NR-5

Make sense?
