CMC on Win2008 R2

I run CMC 8.5 on a Windows 2008 R2 RDS server, and I have a small problem with it. The alerts do not show up in the alert pane. When I run the CMC on a Windows 2003 server or on an XP workstation, I do see my alerts. I had the same problem with CMC 8.1. I hoped the upgrade would solve it, but no....
Anyone seen this behaviour?

You should not have a problem on 2K8 R2. Are your NSMs in a management group?

Re: CMC on Win2008 R2

I'm running the CMC on Windows 7 and have the alerts showing just fine. Could the R2 firewall be blocking some communication?

Re: CMC on Win2008 R2

The NSM's are in a Management Group. It could be the firewall indeed. I have played with some rules in it, but that did not help. I'll give it a try and disable the firewall. I'll let you know the outcome

Re: CMC on Win2008 R2

Hi Jaco,

did you have any luck with disabling the firewall? I've got the same problem with a customer of mine, also W2k8 R2 running SAN/iQ 8.5. There are two identical servers, both have the Firewall disabled but it seems that disabling it isn't enough. On Windows 7 it also works just fine...

Re: CMC on Win2008 R2

I don't like to rely only on the device itself to send alerts. I typically setup external active querying of my LeftHand nodes via SNMP queries...

This also gives me historical and trending (for health, performance, and utilization metrics)

I have partially completed part III of my P4000 monitoring guide (using Nagios) here:

I'd appreciate any feedback from other P4000 folks!
