Failed VSA 8.1 to 8.5 Upgrade?

Tried to perform an upgrade to an existing VSA 8.1 instance today after downloading the SANiQ_8.5.00.0319_20100326_all.upgrade bits. It goes along well until it comes up with an error as follows:

Extracting package contents ...
Starting software upgrade ...
Current Software Version: 8.1.00.0047
New Software Version: 8.5.00.0319
Checking storage node ...
Preparing for upgrade ...
Checking if there is space for the new software ...

**ERROR**: The OS disk in this node is not large enough for the new software upgrade package.
* You must increase the size of the OS disk before upgrading this node.
* See the Release 8.5 P4000 SAN Solution Upgrade Guide for instructions.

OK then ... how do you upgrade an inplace VSA (that has VMDK's on it!)? By the way, I can't find any "Upgrade Guide" in the documentation on the FTP site.

Thanks to all.

Re: Failed VSA 8.1 to 8.5 Upgrade?

You may want to check the upgrade instructions at: http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02073063/c02073063.pdf

There is a section about enlarging the OS size for VSA due to the increase in the VMTools size.

Good luck,

Nice call!

That was the ticket. Don't know why I couldn't find the "Upgrade Guide".

Thanks again.
