8212 firmware issues

Hi All,

Has anyone had issues with firmware versions K_13_23 and 25 on both HP8200 and HP5400 switches?

It seems K_12_57 is stable but upgrading to K_13 causes both switches to crash randomly every couple of weeks.

Many thanks

Re: 8212 firmware issues

Hi cfrench

K_13_23 is buggy. We have also Crashes (reboot, according to HP a problem with ICMP). The new version K_13_44, the problems have been resolved.

Re: 8212 firmware issues

we also have the same problem, we upgraded the 5406zl switch to version K.13.44 but we still encounter crash log file, after that the switch automatically reboot, do you know what triggers that crash log file and the reboot? here's the crash log file...

Re: 8212 firmware issues

Hallo!

We have jesterday updated 2 8212zl to version k_13_44. The Switches works fine after that.
With K_13_23 we had crashes or reboots after every reboot. Wait until the new version is downloadable or you get the software via the service.
Its works.

Good Luck

Re: 8212 firmware issues

I upgraded our 5406zl switch to K.13.44 but the problem still exist, i would like to know what triggers this problem?

Re: 8212 firmware issues

Try disabling ICMP redirects 'no ip icmp redirects'

Should have been fixed with K.13.44 though from what I understand, open a new case with HP.

Re: 8212 firmware issues

I already open a ticket and i'm still waiting for the response, they are asking me what are the application running on the network that might trigger that error and reboot, but its hard for me to find out what really triggers that reboot. if i'm going to disable the ICMP redirects do you think it will help? will there be an effect on the live environment if im going to do it? Thanks!!

Re: 8212 firmware issues

Without knowing your environment completely, it impossible to give absolutes. But we had big issues with random reboots/crashes, high CPU and more.. and "no icmp redirect" made the environment stable. We saw no user impact when we applied this in a live environment.
Have recently uograded to K.13.44--did NOT remove the "no icmp redirect" command. The previous issue were so bad...still gun shy.
