I have a procurve 2810 and am wanting to block a mac address on just one port. Is this possible?

no...
if you want block mac address on switch
you must use mac lockout command
this command block a mac address all switch port

(config)# lockout-mac (mac-address)

Re: block mac on specific port.

I was reading up a little on the port security. Would using that help do what I am wanting?

Re: block mac on specific port.

Hi Nathan

Do you have a bit more details of when at you need to acheive ?

Is it a general rule for multiple mac-addresses in the long run or is it for a single specific source mac address ?

Do you just want to grant access to certain mac addresses ?

Do you just silently want to filter traffic from a certain MAC ?

Just questions and no answers sorry

Re: block mac on specific port.

I really don't have a time frame per say, but I would like to get it done as soon as possible. Basically what it boils down to is that we just have 1 IP address that is being pulled from our on-site and our DR site. We've traced it down to our on-site location and to the MAC, but it is doing some weird Proxy ARP stuff and just isn't working right. So the easiest way we decided to do it is if we could just manage it from the switch and block that 1 MAC address on that 1 port on our switch on the on-site. I know the lock-out does it for all ports, and I read a little on the port security settings, just not sure exactly how to do it.
