CDP LLDP ProCurve 5412zl

I understand that ProCurve switches will not send CDP information but should be receiving it. I have a 5412zl that has CDP running/enabled and LLDP that is not receiving any CDP or LLDP information. The switch this is attached to is sending them. Is there anything special I need to do for this to work or possibly mark the uplink with a DEFAULT_VLAN tagged? Any ideas?

I am running the default IOS this came with of #K.12.57

I should mention the attached switch is only running CDP and not LLDP.

By tagging the default vlan this now can pass cdp frames up [Cisco Trunk]to the switch.
