discovery problem in PCM 2.3

Hi

I'm using PCM with 34 devices (2500, 2600, 3500 and 5400 series).
When I'm trying to make "Re-Discover Device" i get 2 different messages

1. Discovery stopping with information:

Starting discovery

Currently discovery is in progress for this device.
----

2. Discovery freezes with information:
----
Starting discovery

Deleting device info
Discovering device info
Discovering device connections
Discovering Device Ports
Discovering VLANs
Discovering Device/Port VLAN Attributes
----

How can I stop hidden discovery progress in case 1?
What is the reason of freezing discovery in case 2?

which update version have your pcm server

and what device do you want discovery

Should also post the firmwares your running on your devices. Seems to be some trouble with discovery. Find anything doing random reboots?

case 1) this happens if at that instant, the regular discovery polling cycle was in progress already, while you attempted Rediscovery request. You can try after some time to get over this - however it would not be required as the discovery process which was pulling out the information at that instant, would already fetched any latest information from the device.

case 2)Does this happen always? For devices having many VLAN's it usually takes some time before the next status is published after the message "Discovering Device/Port VLAN Attributes"

Are you observing this issue for any particular device? If so, as suggested by previous post, some idea about the firmware etc would help

All said, have you tried using the latest version PCM 3.1 [http://www.procurve.com/products/management/ProCurve_Manager_Plus/overview.htm] ?

Hi,

PCM is update 12 version.
Discovery devices are 3500 and 5400 series switches.
In this network is 15 VLANs.

I check firmwawe version and it seems that problem is only with version K.14.47. With K.13.58 everything is ok.
On 2600 series switches also is ok.

After 1 hour waiting I choose "Halt", and now when i want to Re-Discover I got message
"Currently discovery is in progress for this device." Only PCM reboot stopping this progress.

Try to downgrade to K.14.41 and check, also if you want to adjust the discovery settings then you can go to prefrencess and go to discovry settings from there you can edit it

I had similar freeze problems during manual discovery, but at last It was a RAM issue.

Try to check RAM/disk/DB on the server, just to exclude such issues.
