Help for telnet problem

Firmware revision : F.05.17

When I telnet, I got the following alarm.

Sorry, the maximum number of telnet sessions are active. Try again later.

Then connected Console cable and ran command: show telnet.

Then tried to use the command kill.
But after I used the command, Console lost connection.

Any advice?

It doesn't look like you've reached the maximum sessions. Reboot the switch and try again?

I do believe that it may be resolved by reset, but there are many switches used in my company meeting the same problem.

Any way to resume it without affect the users? Thanks.

Sound like you were killing the session that you were in the last time. Next time try killing other sessions :-) Like "kill 2".

Always use 'logout' to exit a telnet session. Also there is an console inactivity timer you can set which will kill any idle sessions.

For current condition,is there any solution possible to solve the problem without affecting the users?

kill or kill 2 caused the same result that I couldn't use console port, either.

I think killing other sessions is your solution without reset the switch.
1- Connect by Console.
2- Use show telnet, to see other sessions and yours as well.
3- Use kill where session ID is not yours.
4- Instruct all the poeple access by Telnet to Logout after they finish.

When I look in the 2524 CLI Reference manual, I don't see any option to provide parms to the kill command. None the less, what's the big deal if it also kills your serial console session? It should clear the telnet sessions as well and you should be able to re-establish a console session if need be.

Nice hearing from you.

I do believe that "kill" can end the session of telnet in normal condition.

For one normal switch, you can not end yourself session no matter you use Console or Telnet.

kill and kill <2-4> caused the same result that the Console port couldn't be used any more.

I look forward to an abnormal solution on that or any related documents.
