we have a HP procurve 8212ZL,HP 2650,HP2626& hp 2610 switches.Hp 8212ZL swith is configured as core switch and other switches are acting as edge switches.All are uplinked through Ethernet ports.Now we are planning to connect through fibreopti ports and when it connects through OFC the links are not comming up.But it is working through gigabit ethernet ports.Need solution.
You probably just need to force the port speeds on both switches. Set the relevant ports with, for example, "int a1 speed-duplex 1000-full" and then the same at the 2600 switch with "int 49 speed-duplex 1000-full".
Are you connecting the fibre ports at the same time as the ethernet ports? It might be easier if you could upload a copy of the configs. Also could you run the "sh tech transceivers" command and post the output.
If you're connecting both ports at the same time then you may be having spanning tree issues. Can you post the running config for the 8212 and the other switch you are connecting the fibre to?
Actually we are using HP procurve 3400 as a core switch.We are planning to change it to 8212Zl as core switch.In 8200zl we are using OFC ports as uplink ports and ethernet ports for DATA VLAn and VOICE VLAn same as 3400.So i am not disturbing the existing switch.once the OFC ports gets worked i can switch over the core from 3400 to 8212zl.In the edge switches we have one gigabit port as unused.Instead of using that ethernet port we are using MINI-GBIC and connected that OFC cable.In that situation the link is not comming up.I made auto on both the sides of OFC.still the link is not comming up.Kindly need ur suggestion.
What kind of mini-gbic you are using, are you using the same type at both ends ? are using single or multimode (SX or LX or LH) ?? check that please, and also what kind of cable are you using ?
We are Using HP Procurve Gigabit-SX-LC Mini-GBIC,Product:J4858C.We are using Systimax TS LC-LC1.6MM Duplex riser 010FT Cable.This cable is used from the 8212ZL to OFC Patch Panel.From patch panel to other edge switches we are using systimax 12 core OFC cable.
