HP4204vl and Cisco 3750G (WS-C3750G-24TS-E1U) - Fiber Module Options

My setup at the moment is Im linking up the Cisco 3750 stack to a HP Procurve 4204vl using UTP(link aggregation - 4GB). Our change will involve linking up the Cisco stack to the HP Procurve4204vl via fiber. I havent done this in our environment where I link up HP and Cisco via fiber. We have a single mode fiber. As for the Cisco I will need GLC-LH-SM. So thats okay with the Cisco.

I need help in deciding which fiber module to accuire for HP4204vl switch that is compatible with the GLC-LH-SM fiber module for Cisco 3750G. Have gone through the HP site and have seen this one for HP - HP X121 1G SFP LC LH Transceiver (J4860C). I have a couple of HP X121 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (J4859C) which Im not sure whether it is compatible with the Cisco one or not. If it is then I will just use these modules

Let me know and thanks for any help rendered

regards

Re: HP4204vl and Cisco 3750G (WS-C3750G-24TS-E1U) - Fiber Module Options

The GLC-LH-SM and the J4860C Transceiver don't appear to be compatible; different wavelengths. What HP calls LH, Cisco calls ZX, I believe.

So it looks like the J4859C is the only option.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear that. Please confirm once again before I rate this reply and close this off. Got a lot of those modules not in use that I can use rather than buying those othe modules that cost the earth :)

Hi Richard,

Have got confirmation from Cisco forum that you answer is right. Have gone through the documents as well for the 2 modules and you are correct.

Thank you very much for your advice. Appreciate it. We can now close this off
