Improving game performance on dorm network, QoS???
I have been throwing around ideas for improving gaming performance for students on the resident hall network. I have been looking into a seperate vlan on each dorm trunk for gaming and also adding QoS to the mix. Has anyone utilized this technology for such a situation? To give and Idea of the topology, we have 8 buildings with single mode homeruns back to computing building. Edge switches are 2626, 2650, and 6108. Core is a 5308xl. The path out consists of an IPS, packetshaper, and a cisco ASA.
