Network Switches in General
Hope this is not too off beating track folks, I am looking for information on HPe network switches in particular how the model numbers/part numbers work, can someone tell me what the second part of the number actually does or what it points to e.g J9078-60001, J4899-60401, I vaguely remember someone telling me it was mainly used by engineers to identify what level the switches were at not sure if that was true.
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Network Switches in General
Hi,
As an end customer, one need to know about the product numbers like J9078A/B/C, J4899A/B/C etc. The part numbers (eg: e.g J9078-69001, J4899-69401) are for internal part ordering purpose and I guess the values after '-' are more related to hardware revision. For example J4899-69401 is the equivalent part for J4899-69001 as J4899-69001 is no longer supplied.
