Problem - HP Switch 2650 J4899A v.10.29 and GBIC SX J4858A

Hi!
After upgrade switch to version H.10.29 GBIC-SX J4858A not work (self-test failed). J4858B - work.
GBIC-SX J4858A in HP Procurve Routing Switch 9304M 08.0.01c - work.

Its bug new firmware?

I have had all kinds of problems with 26xx and GBICs. Bugs; probably. But with switch or SFP - difficult to say.

If your 2650 is a J4899B or J4900B then you may have a "non-genuine" or counterfeit GBIC. HP was having some issues with counterfeit GBICs. At one point the firm ware would disable them on some switches. Looks like on some newer firmware HP's stance is that they're not supported but some 'might work'. But on the 2650 models listed above, the GBIC support matrix definitely says that non-genuine GBICs won't work.

Sorry, I just reread your post and saw that you have a J4899A. The matrix on this model says that the J4858A will work. That is unless you have a "non-genuine" or counterfeit J4858A. In that case the chart says in might work.

This is a bug, contact HP to get an updated firmware release.
