ProCurve 2650 & mini-GBIC 3Com 1000BASE-SX SFP Transc.

Hello Everybody,

Can I use this combination?
I know it is not supported but i must do it.

HP ProCurve 2650 (J4899B) &
3Com 1000BASE-SX SFP Transceiver (3CSFP91)

Switch detects Transceiver, but connection was not working.
On opposite site was same Transceiver.

I mean 3Com has same parameters with original ProCurve Gigabit-SX-LC Mini-GBIC (J4858B)

Why must you do it?
Why can you not use genuine HP?

If you look at the latest firmware release notes, they mention that only genuine HP branded minigbic's work, others are disallowed by the switch software.

Does the switch log say that it accepts the module, as it should state that it is not hp one.

It was mistake by my hardware partner.
I have more switches and other SFP's.
I try change all other with HP's.

Linked topic is very interesting.
By me is not price problem.
3Com SFP are more expensive then HP.

Solution is buying all HP. :-)
