Procurve 5406zl & multiple 3500yl switches

I have 10 vlans in this configuration, on ingress of a packet on an untagged port, I would like to add the vid to the packet so that it can travel through the network correctly. I have not been able to find a command like pvid to do this, am I missing something?

Hi Tom

Not exactly sure what you mean here.

The point of untagged port, is that there is no vlan tag. What do you mean by adding the vid?

However, if a untagged port member of vlan x, receives a packet that needs to be forwarded to another switch trough a tagged link. It will automatically add the vlan tag.

As long as you make the uplink port bnetween the switches tagged members of all the vlans you should be OK.

Sorry if i misunderstand.

For more on vlan configuration look at:

Also the command guide is useful:

Hi Tom

Under the vlan config you mark the port as untagged for that vlan as an example

vlan 2
untagged a4-A7
exit

For the inter switch links when you want the traffic to be tagged you would use for arguments sake, this would give the packet an 802.1Q tag for vlan 2.

vlan 2
tagged C1
exit

Thank you. That is what I needed and have it working now.
