Can Linux be booted via the serial port instead of graphical?

I would like to be able to use a CRT (actually a Teletype machine) as the master console.

Is there a way to tell Linux to use one of the tty ports when booting?

The remote serial how-to is probably your best guide

Shalom,

Yes it can, how to do this, varies from distribution to distribution.

However a CRT like you are using will not work.

See this guide:

Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Steven - why won't it work?

The serial port is a native device - I wouldn't imagine that it needs any special kind of driver to be loaded at boot time.
