Can't see all internal disks on RHEL4

I have RHEL4 on HP Proliant DL380 G3 with 6 (36GB) internal disks. I have configured first 2 in RAID1 (1 logical drive) and left the other disks unused. When I do a "fdisk -l" it returns nothing. Where are the other 4 disks gone. Pls advise.

Re: Can't see all internal disks on RHEL4

With the SmartArray RAID controller, the OS will see logical drives only. If you have not defined any logical drives for the other 4 disks, they will not be visible to the OS. Only the SmartArray RAID configuration utilities will see the actual physical disks.

If you have installed the hpasmcli command-line utility or the browser-based SmartArray RAID configuration tool (cpqacuxe), you can use them to make the missing disks visible to the OS without shutting down the OS.

These utilities are available through the http://www.hp.com/go/support URL. Specify your hardware model and OS and you'll see all the available downloads for your hardware/OS combination.

Shalom,

When hardware raid is used and 6 disks are turned into two for the OS, fdisk can only see the two presented.
