what is meant by cifs server & cifs client


server is used for sharing hp-ux filesstem with windows client

and client is used for mounting windows filesystem on hp -ux

am i correct ??????

On Linux its called Samba.

You need client and server to properly interact with windows systems. Samba is built into windows.
