Cloning a disk as part of boot net recovery

Hi,

The primary boot disk is not fsck-able and will not boot. Ioscan can see the disk and partitions

Using boot net is it possible to copy the contents to an identical disk (which has not been partitioned)

Machine was running HP UX 11.23

Thanks

Paul

I'm not sure what you mean by this.  Can you elaborate or post errors you receive when you try to fsck?

If a fsck is not fixing your problems, then I seriously doubt cloning to another system will help.

If your boot disk is not mirrored this may be a good time to use your Ignite/UX backup to restore the boot disk.

Sorry yes my comment on fsck is pretty vague

fsck issues errors  ( file system had I/O error(s) on meta-data) and never completes even when left overnight with the -y option on a 146gb disk

Re: Cloning a disk as part of boot net recovery

Are you running fsck on the disk file (/dev/dsk/c?t?d?) or are you running fsck on the logical volumes on the disk?  If you are running on the logical volumes, which LV is it that is having problems?
