configure new disk array on dl385

We are running Redhat linux 4 on a dl385, and I am a newbie for linux.

I want to configure a new disk array (raid 5). Is there a way to access the "smart array management" from linux?

Can someone please provide a "cookbook" for doing this?

Thanks for the help.

Maybe here is what you are looking for:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3646114&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3646113&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2026

With the "HP Array Configuration Utility", you can manage most of the HP-Raid-Controllers

Re: configure new disk array on dl385

The tools for that can be installed as one big package (a Proliant Support Pack (PSP)) or individually.

Go to http://www.hp.com/go/support, select "Download drivers and software (and firmware)" and type in "Proliant DL385". On the next page, you should pick the correct model. Is your machine a plain DL385 or a DL385 G2?
Then choose your OS version, and you'll reach the download page for your hardware/OS combination.

The tools for SmartArray configuration are "HP Array Configuration Utility" (web-based GUI) and "HP Array Configuration Utility CLI" (command-line based). The download page of each tool has the installation instructions. After installation, the usage instructions are available using the standard "man" command.

Thanks guys for your help. The links were perfect. Ended up using the cpqacuxe utility--the gui is much easier for a newbie.
