DL380 G6 and RHEL 5

Hi,

We are having trouble installing RHEL 5 on Proliant DL380 G6

When trying to install linux rhel 5 from CD on the dl380 g6:

Boots from linux CD and I press enter.

We then get following error

A) No Driver found
Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type, Would you like to manually select your driver or use a driver disk?

Select Driver Use a driver disk Back

We could not get through this step of Installation process.

It looks like it's coming from an SCSI Driver.
Has anybody ever faced this issue?
Thank you

Shalom,

I will take a wild guess and say you are using the original RHEL 5 or update 1.

Only update 2 and above has the proper driver for G6 server disk array.

Toda !

Yes, this is what I'm using. Will try with another version or with the last Fedora Core.

Thanks again.

Re: DL380 G6 and RHEL 5

Shalom,

I'd go with Red Hat Five update 3 or 4.

Fedora is a totally different animal, and is too bleeding edge for me.

Depends on how you are using the system.

Hatzlacha, lcha.

Re: DL380 G6 and RHEL 5

Hi Steven,

thanks for your help.
Could u please let me know which kernel RHEL5 version 3 or 4 is built on?
I'm currently in Africa with a very low bandwidth and can't afford downloading a 3/4 Gb file.
Was wondering if the last CentOS 5 kernel-2.6.18 will be sufficient enough.
(That's just a test environment I'm trying to set.)

Thanks again,
Bastien.

Re: DL380 G6 and RHEL 5

Actually I've just noticed CentOS-5.4 is based on the upstream release EL 5.4.0.
Will post the output...

Re: DL380 G6 and RHEL 5

I have successfully installed RHEL5.4 on DL380g6 that has a HP Smart Disk Array controller P410i. No additional driver required. No issues encountered.

Centos 5.4 should work for your server.

hi,

pedrix, you could install Centos 5.4, from netinstall, so you don't need to download the hole dvd iso, obly what you need.

Re: DL380 G6 and RHEL 5

Hi Perdrix,

I'm also having the same issue when trying to install RHEL5.4 x86_64 on a HP DL380 G6.

No devices found...

Where you able to overcome this issue and install it with success?

Thanks.
Best Regards
Manel
