Hi all
we are having a N4000 3*PA8600@550Mhz server Product no. A3639A with HPUX 11.11
I got this error in the syslog

EMS Event Notification ------ Value: "SERIOUS (4)" for Resource: "/system/events/core_hw
/core_hw" (Threshold: >= " 3") Execute the following command to obtain event details: /opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 125960194

#/opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 125960194 -r /system/events/core_hw/core_hw -n 125960212 -a

CURRENT MONITOR DATA:

Event Time..........: Mon Aug 2 22:31:28 2004
Severity............: SERIOUS
Monitor.............: dm_core_hw
Event #.............: 48
System..............: prod1

Summary:
Cabinet (bulk) power supplies are not redundant in compute cabinet

Description of Error:

The minimum number of cabinet (or bulk) power supplies required to power
the unit is currently installed and operating. There are no redundant
cabinet (bulk) power supplies available in case of failure. Because the
REQUIRE_REDUNDANCY parameter in the monitor's configuration file
/var/stm/config/tools/monitor/dm_core_hw.cfg is set to 1, this is
considered to be a problem.

Probable Cause / Recommended Action:

A power supply has been removed from the cabinet.
Contact your HP support representative to check the power supply.

A power supply is disabled.
If present, verify that the switch on the front of each power supply
is in the "On" position.

A power supply has failed.
Contact your HP support representative to check the power supply.

If redundancy is not not required, change the REQUIRE_REDUNDANCY parameter
setting in dm_core_hw.cfg to 0.

Re: EMS Event Notification

Hi,

I don't have N4000 box with me. There should be LED which shows the power supply status. (It should be green) Rp84xx, Rp54xx has one. Also you can check in MP (GSP) login there is command to verify the power supply status. I think it's "ps" command.(see the help). Also make sure all AC lines are proper and AC power is there.(may be MCB tripped).

revert.

Re: EMS Event Notification

Hi Ranjan,

It looks like that one of the four power supply units are failed. First you need to know is how many power supplies is on the server. From the last lines the EMS gives that PS 0 is out, but it has reported it in present.
Does EMS give this message more than ones?
Try to restart the EMS and than see what notification you will get.

Re: EMS Event Notification

Check your Power Cable connection status.

If it connect correctly, check your system's power supply status.

To check P/S status, open your system's door.
And check Power Supply's LED Status.
If the P/S LED is not flash, or flash yellow, replace the Power Supply.
