fsck run

Hello
is it possible to lower the frequency of automatic fsck runs?

This is requeste in an environnment where the biggest file ssytem is linked to a Service Guard package that own dependencies; the fsk can impact those dependencies. So lowering the fsck automatic run will lower those impact.

Thanks in advance

Re: fsck run

Hello,

check the manpage of tune2fs.

To set a automatic filesystem check every 100 mounts or 365 days for /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 run:

tune2fs -c 100 -i 365 /dev/cciss/c0d0p1

tune2fs is only for ext2/ext3 filesystems.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Patrick

Re: fsck run

Thanks Patrik
is this solution valid also for LVM file systems?

Thanks

Re: fsck run

Yes, it's for the filesystem and does not matter if it's under control of LVM or not. If you use ext3, you can omit fsck at all.
