How to find physical sockets , number of cores on hpux 9000/rp4440 (pa risc 8800) server ?
We need info on hpux system for IBM. Cant figure if hpux9000/rp4440/hpux11.11 has how man y cores and sockets ?
Thanks
NEED THE FOLLOWING INFO.
IBM calculates licenses via “PVU” which is a derived metric based on chipset. As such, I need validation on the following criteria….
- Server model - HPUX 9000/RP4440
- Chipset - PARISC 8800
- Physical sockets ??? (HOW DO DETERMINE)
- Number of cores (either per socket or total, as long as its consistent) ??? (HOW DO DETERMINE)
- For anything virtual, we’ll need both the VM/container specs and the specs of the physical host(s).

Re: How to find physical sockets , number of cores on hpux 9000/rp4440 (pa risc 8800) server ?
The rp4400 has 4 CPU sockets and always dual core CPUs.
Get the number of cores by running ioscan, devide the number by 2 and you know about the free and used sockets.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Thanks Torsten.
Using Sam or ioscan, i get this. Show 6 cpus (processeor) or is that cores ? Does that mean I have 6 cpu x 2 cores=12 coress (if these are dual core cpus). And how do you calculate physical sockets ?

What you see are the cores, so you have 3 dual core CPUs.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Thanks, Torsten. That was very helpful and now I can get IBM to license the product for me.

Here's a great secret to finding information about HP hardware: quickspecs
Just type this into Google: quickspecs rp4440
or any other HP model. Quickspecs (from HP) gives you very detailed information about HP products.
