Re: HP Serviceguard for Linux -- manual/document

Shalom Maaz,

I run an OCFS2 cluster in Linux, serviceguard is not required, Oracle ships its own clusterware package. It works pretty well with Oracle RAC.

Red Hat's GFS cluster filesystem is tightly integrated with RHCS, the Red Hat Cluster Suite.

You will find it is probably easier to go with GFS and RHCS as a team.

I see no need for SG in an OCFS2 cluster and a potential for two cluster systems hammering each other and causing conflict.

Thanks Mike and SEP

I dont have to run oracle(only/alone). We have to run SAP(www.sap.com). We have HP StorageWorks for SAN. We store SAP data on
the HP SAN.
We will configure the cluster of two machines on which SAP installed. and the Application data and databases(of course oracle is the database), will be on SAN.
The High Availability cluster will consist the two machines(SAP Servers) will be configured by HP Serviceguard.
and the Shared Storage(SAN) filesystem will be OCFS2.

I asked that if SG and OCFS2 works without any issue(and I believe that there will be no issue) only becuase HP itself only mentioned Redhat's GFS
Atleast on HP website I didnt find any single word for OCFS2, while on HP website you will find the GFS(thats why I am asking OCFS2 and SSG will work together or not)

"Red Hat and HP have collaborated to deliver a complete availability solution on Linux clusters with HP Serviceguard for Linux and Red Hat Global File System (GFS) for HP ProLiant servers."

Now I came to know that it will be no issue if we use OCFS2 with SG
