HP-UX Tuning for Documentum software

Hi!

I am wondering if any one of you guys have the tuning parameters for Documentum software.

Pls share with me as my HP boxes is hitting extremely high CPU utilisation with just 100+ users.

Thanks!

Re: HP-UX Tuning for Documentum software

What model machine? How many CPUs? What speed? How much RAM? What version of HP-UX? Is there a database involved?

We really need a bit more information to go on.

Re: HP-UX Tuning for Documentum software

The first thing that I see is that 2GB of RAM is really not that much for a modern machine, especially something like an rp7410.

What is your memory utilization? Are you paging out? What does 'swapinfo -tam' return? The big thing here is what is the value of dbc_max_pct kernel parameter? If it is still at the default of 50 then it needs to be lowered. In your case something like 15 or 20 would be best.

If you do a top when you have high CPU usage, what is the top process? Is it vhand? If it is then you are almost definitely under memory pressure and need more RAM. vhand is the process that controls moving data from RAM to your swap device(s).
