install non HP printer with JD printer installer for unix

Hello,

I'm trying to install a non HP LPD printer on my HP UX 11.0 using JD Printer Installer for UNIX vE.10.34
I remember in earlier versions there was a place where i could specify an LPD printer with IPaddress and port/queue name, I can't seem to find that anywhere in the current version.
Is ther a workaround?

Would maybe doing it via SAM as a remote printer work for you ??
Then reference it in your /etc/host file.

Just a thought,

Re: install non HP printer with JD printer installer for unix

JetDirect will not add a non-JetDirect printer. The hppi code is designed specifically for HP's proprietary JetDirect protocol on port 9100. Non-HP printer LAN cards do not support this protocol so you must add the printer using SAM as a "remote" printer and not a "network" printer.

Try adding via the command line like:

lpadmin -v/dev/null -mrmodel -pLOCALQUEUENAME -ormDNSNAME.YOURDOMAIN.COM -orpREMOTEQUEUENAME
