Kernel Panic during Install


I am installing RH Ent linux 5 and getting the following errors ( after installing from 1/7 , 2/7 , 3/7 cds ) and I am not provding the installation number :

device-mapper:table:253:0:linear:dm-linear:Device lookup failed
device-mapper:reload : ioctl failed :Invalid argument
2 Logical volumes in Volume group "VolGroup00" now active
init[1]:segfault at .....rp.....rsp....error 4
nash recieved SIGSEGV Backtrace
kernel panic not syncing :Attempted to kill init.

PLEASE help.

And the disk space is over 2 TB. Does that coz a problem ?

which server and which architecture you are installing?

sometimes it seen that, if your architecture is 32-bit and u install the 64-bit, it'll gave error.

Check your hardware architecture and your installation CD's

Shalom,

Kernel panic on install comes from a number of sources.

1) Hardware not supported by the OS in the system.
2) Installation of the OS to an unspported platform, eg 64 bit install on 32 bit only hardware as an example. IA64 OS on a non-Itanium system is another common cause.

You should check these things.
