I have installed rhl 4 ws, and suse 10, on a Lenovo ThinkCenter M55e Desktop.
This machine has Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit ethernet card.
rhl 4, and suse 10, doesnt detect/installed the driver for ethernet card
Plz help what should I do .
I have attached "hwinfo --network", "hwinfo --netcard" and "dmidecode" output file.
Regards
Maaz

Solutionyou'll find the driver package here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67073
You need to unpack it on windows though :-( , but it looks like the package contains a Linux driver too.

Re: linux, on Lenovo ThinkCenter M55e Desktop
What update you choose is critical.
base RH or update 1 is likely to know nothing about this new NIC card. A later update should.
I think what has really happened is that you've received a low end box that has no Linux support at all. The HP dc7700 comes to mind as another shining example.
Many makers, with the possible exception of Dell have ceased providing Linux support on their entry level desktop hardware, thereby raising the cost of ownerhip to Linux people.
Its distrubring. Check with the vendor for new BIOS or firmware that supports Linux. If they say its unavailable, demand it.
