linux reboot unexpectedly

hi guys,
we have a ProLiant BL45p G1 with linux server 4.5. recently the server rebooted but we couldn't find why.

'last' command showed it was rebooted at 9.26:
reboot system boot 2.6.9-55.0.6.ELs Mon Jul 27 09:26 (09:16)

however /var/log/messages did not show any error. below is record before (9.25) and after (9.27) reboot:
Jul 27 09:25:00 svr_name RT: #44145/475911 - Scrip 4 (/opt/rt3/lib/RT/Action/SendEmail.pm:252)
Jul 27 09:27:40 svr_name syslogd 1.4.1: restart.

all .bash_history files also showed nothing like reboot, shutdown, etc.

anything else should i look for?

Re: linux reboot unexpectedly

Hi,

have you checked the ASR setting on the HPSIM page for that server? You could have had a thermal or other event that caused the reboot 'outside' pf the operating system.

Re: linux reboot unexpectedly

hi,

it would be in the sysman homepage if you have installed the PSP. you have to go to:

http://serveraddress:2301

Re: linux reboot unexpectedly

hi,

the only other way of finding the setting that I am aware of is to reboot the machine and press F9 to enter setup. You will find the current ASR setting listed in there, its just not always convenient to reboot your box
