LTO3 Ultrium not detected on RH using LSI Logic

Hi,
I have close to zero Linux experience. I have installed a LSI Logic dual channel SCSI adapter in order to connect two Ultrium LTO3 tape drives.
Problem is I can't see the tape drives.

After installing the adapter and during reboot on CTL C (adapter config) I can see the LTO drives. When the system boots I can see no sign of these drives.
When I run mt -f status I get the following:
[root@lnxndp20 root]# mt -f /dev/st0 status
/dev/st0: No such device

Any help would be graetly appreciated.

Re: LTO3 Ultrium not detected on RH using LSI Logic

Shalom,

You may have used the wrong scsi card.

You need a Low voltage card that meets the specifications in the LTO manual from http://docs.hp.com

You may actually need an add in SCSI card for this one.

I ran into a similar issue with a rx3600 system in 2008 and had to use an add in card. The built in SCSI card simply could not present the drive properly to the system. Some kind of firmware idiosyncrasy.

I don't see any evidence the the LTO is detected so I think my experience may help you on this.
