LVM on EMC SAN SRDF

Friends,

Is it possible to have LVM on EMC SAN SRDF; instead of using Veritas.

Thanks in advance.

Re: LVM on EMC SAN SRDF

AFAIK, SRDF is a hardware based replication.

Yes, you can use LVM or what you desire over a LUN replicated by the storage controller.

Re: LVM on EMC SAN SRDF

Shalom,

Once disk is presented by the hardware (EMC) to the system, LVM can be used for disk management.

Re: LVM on EMC SAN SRDF

SRDF is the storage based replciation from R1 to R2. later the r2 can be replcaited to a BCV device which can be mounted on the HOST side(LVM control) for DR purpose. We have couple of LINUX servers for which the DR is setup this way. Only thing is that you can either present r2 or GBCV disks only to the host as the vgchgid is not as easy in HP-UX.
