Nagios check_nrpe shows database is down
Hello,
On one of the HP-UX sevrers monitored by nagios , check_nrpe command gives incorrect O/P.
Executing:-
<nrpe_home>/libexec/check_oracle --db <SID> , shows database is UP
But, <nrpe_home>/libexec/check_nrpe -H localhost -c check_oracle_<SID> , shows database is DOWN
In nrpe.cfg, the command is defined as :
command[check_oracle_<SID>]=/opt/nrpe/libexec/check_oracle --db <SID>
Any Ideas what's going on here?
I've posted the same on Nagios support forum, thought i post it here as well.

Re: Nagios check_nrpe shows database is down
Hello,
the script check_nrpe is not HP-ult UX OS built in command. So, we can't tell how it checks the availability of "DB" whether it is down or UP. It is better to check the vendor who supports DB application. From the OS, you can use command "ps" or "top" command to check the DB process status.
Best regards
